These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of the Clear Discord bot, its /idcheck, /idcheck-access, and /usage commands, and the associated web dashboard (together, the "Service"), operated by the developer of Clear ("we", "us", "our", the "Operator"). By inviting Clear to a Discord server, running any of its commands, or signing in to the dashboard, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Clear allows an authorized server member to run /idcheck against another member. That member receives a private, one-time link to a hosted verification session operated by Didit, a third-party identity verification provider. Didit captures a government-issued ID document, performs a liveness check and a face match against the document photo, and returns a decision to Clear. Clear evaluates the server's configured age rule against the extracted date of birth and, if the member qualifies, automatically grants and/or removes Discord roles as configured by that server's administrators. The verification link expires automatically after 10 minutes if not completed.
If enabled by the destination server, a member who has already completed a successful verification in one server may have that result reused in another server ("cross-server verification") without repeating the ID check, subject to that server's own age rule.
You must meet Discord's own minimum age and account requirements (see Discord's Terms of Service) to use Discord at all, and by extension to interact with Clear. Clear is a tool that helps servers enforce their own age or identity requirements — using Clear does not by itself certify eligibility for any particular server, product, or legal requirement beyond what the verifying server has configured.
If you install Clear in a server, run /idcheck, grant /idcheck-access to other members, or configure verification rules on the dashboard, you represent and warrant that you:
/idcheck access (via /idcheck-access) to members you trust with this responsibility. If you are asked to complete a verification, you are not required to do so — declining simply means the requesting server's role or access requirement will not be granted. Completing a Didit session means your document image, extracted identity details, and a liveness/face-match biometric comparison are submitted directly to Didit and returned to Clear and to the requesting server's authorized administrators, as described in our Privacy Policy.
The dashboard is gated behind Discord OAuth sign-in. You may access a server's configuration and verification records only if you own that server or hold Manage Server / Administrator permission in it, or if you are a designated full-access administrator of the Service. Do not attempt to access, scrape, or infer data belonging to a server you do not manage.
Identity, age, and biometric matching decisions are produced by Didit, not by us. We relay Didit's decision and apply your configured rule to it in good faith, but we do not independently verify, and cannot guarantee, the accuracy, completeness, or fraud-resistance of any verification result. Clear and its Operator are not liable for any consequence of a false positive, false negative, forged document, or any decision a server administrator makes in reliance on a verification result.
You agree not to:
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service, for any user or server, for violation of these Terms.
Each server is assigned a plan with a monthly included number of verifications ("scans"). A scan is counted when a verification session is created; if the member never opens the link and the session expires unused, the scan is automatically refunded. Once a server's monthly allowance and any bonus credits are exhausted, /idcheck will decline to start new verifications until the next billing cycle, more credits are granted, or the plan is upgraded — servers are never charged for usage beyond what they have available. At this time we do not process any payments directly through the Service; if and when paid plans are enabled, payment will be handled by a third-party payment processor (currently planned to be Stripe), and that processor's own terms and privacy policy will apply to the payment transaction.
Our collection, use, storage, and deletion of personal and biometric data through the Service is described in full in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
The Service depends on and integrates with Discord and Didit. Your use of the Service is also subject to Discord's Terms of Service and (for any user who completes a verification session) Didit's own terms, available at didit.me. We are not responsible for the availability, content, or practices of these third-party services.
The Clear name, bot, dashboard, and underlying software are the property of the Operator. Except for the limited right to use the Service as intended, these Terms do not grant you any license to our intellectual property. You retain all rights to any content or data you or your members submit through the Service, subject to the license needed for us to operate the Service as described.
You may stop using the Service at any time by removing Clear from your server or declining to complete a verification. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service, in whole or for a specific server or user, at any time — with or without notice — for violation of these Terms, suspected fraud or abuse, or to comply with legal obligations. A server administrator may delete their server's verification records from the dashboard at any time.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We make no warranty regarding the accuracy of any third-party verification decision.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service will not exceed the amount, if any, you paid us for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
